15 Deaths recorded in Kashmir, 654 fresh coronavirus cases surface in J&K

The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday recorded 654 new COVID-19 cases, taking the total number of positive cases to 31,371. Of the cases reported today, 114 surfaced from Jammu while the remaining 540 were recorded from Kashmir.

Meanwhile, a single-day highest spike of 15 more deaths — all from Kashmir — were reported during the past 24 hours. The death toll in the Union Territory has reached 593.

Of the total number of deaths reported in Jammu and Kashmir, 41 patients have lost their lives in Jammu province while 552 deaths have been reported from Kashmir Valley.

According to the official bulletin issued on Friday evening, there are 6,973 active cases in the UT while as many as 23,805 patients have recovered.

The bulletin further read that of the 8,44,641 test results available, 8,13,270 samples have been tested negative.

Additionally, to date, 4,26,670 travellers and persons in contact with the suspected cases have been enlisted for observation, which included 42,078 persons under home quarantine —including facilities operated by the government, 6,973 in isolation and 43,232 under home surveillance.

Besides, 3,33,794 persons have completed their surveillance period.

The Jammu and Kashmir government informed that the UT’s Directorate of Indian Systems of Medicine is distributing AYUSH medicines containing immunity-boosting, immuno-modulator, anti-oxidant, rejuvenator, anti-stress, metabolism regulator, anti-allergic, anti-pyretic, anti-tussive and bronchodilator properties.

The department so far has provided medicine to 8.13 lakh people that include various frontline workers, senior citizens, PRIs, police/paramilitary personnel and general masses.
